Infographic: Your IR35 options explained
How Will IR35 Impact You?
With changes to the IR35 reforms due to be implemented this April, it’s important you know where you stand, so you can get prepared.
IR35 rules will have a bearing on how you operate as a contractor – potentially affecting the roles you choose to take on as well as how much tax you have to pay.
We appreciate it can be complicated, so we’ve created this simple diagram to help you see where you stand at a glance and identify your next steps.

No matter your IR35 status, we have a compliant working option to suit you and help you maximise your take-home pay.
‘Inside’ IR35
If you’ve received an ‘inside’ IR35 determination from your agency/end hirer, you may need to consider switching to Umbrella contracting. Working as an Umbrella employee is a simple and easy way to work and comes with a whole host of employment benefits. With JSA Umbrella, you can bring your private pension with you and have access to full employment rights including sick pay, maternity/paternity leave, and holiday pay.
‘Outside’ IR35
If you’ve received an ‘outside’ status determination statement (SDS), you can continue working through your Limited Company and benefitting from the tax efficiencies of this way of working. With JSA as your Limited Company accountant, you’ll receive proactive support from your dedicated accountant and 24/7 access to our MTD compliant online accountancy system.
IR35 Switch
If you require more flexibility to take on a mixture of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ roles, we have the perfect solution for you: IR35 Switch. This allows you to seamlessly switch between working through our Umbrella on ‘inside’ roles and your Limited Company when operating ‘outside’ roles – all for one fixed-fee. We’ll take care of everything and you can enjoy the best of both worlds – maximising your take-home pay.
