JSA LIFE – MEET NATALIE LONG
Natalie Long works in our Business Development Team as a Relationship Manager. Having been with us since 2011, she is now a familiar face to many of our clients.
We caught up with Natalie to find out more about her life and career with JSA.
Tell us about your career to date and what brought you to JSA
Customer service has always been a passion of mine, and I started working in this environment when I was 18. I worked for the Camelot (National Lottery) for 11 years covering a number of customer service/project and management roles. I joined JSA in 2011 as the Customer Services Manager within our Umbrella operation. It was an opportunity to learn and work in a much more competitive business. Now, 8 years later I’m part of a fast-paced sales team – it has certainly been an incredible journey!
What’s the best part of your job and why?
I love dealing with people and being recognised for going the extra mile. Each day is different but I get to travel and see many different places, work with and meet new people all the time. The best part of the job is growing and winning business purely based on your customers not wanting their candidates/clients to be looked after by anyone else in the industry. It’s a great feeling, knowing you can build your accounts based on recommendations!
What’s the most challenging aspect?
When many things are outside of my control, for example, legislation changes.
What’s it like to work at the JSA offices?
I love the JSA office, its all open plan with around 120 people. Senior management/directors sit amongst everyone and get involved in the day-to-day operation, which can make it feel very team-orientated. It certainly feels like we are all working towards the same goals.
Advice you’d give to your younger self…?
Don’t sweat the small stuff!
Are there any skills/qualifications you’re pursuing or studying for?
No – but I would like to improve at presenting and using spreadsheets.
Do you have a motto or favourite saying or a piece of advice you were given that you always remember?
Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!
Complaints should be seen as golden opportunities to learn and improve.

What do you like to do outside work?
I very much like to spend time with family and friends outside of work, I love watching TV (especially box sets and soaps), reading crime fiction and running.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I love astronomy and Brian Cox!
